Alright, which level form Mario 64 is your favorite? Mine is probably Cool Cool Mountain, although Tall Tall Mountain and Whomp's Fortress are no slouch themselves.

Cool Cool Mountain was CLASSIC! The penguin races were great. Truly a revolutionary game. Just wish you would be able to ride a Yoshi in it!

Haha same Guinea - I've been Project 64-ing it up the past few weeks.

And yea, Big Boo's haunt is the best. But what's funny is that for the 5th and 6th stars you know how you have to go up to the third story of the mansion? For the longest time I never even knew it existed - it's hidden so well!

And I know Tick Tock Clock is mad hard but don't say it's your least favorite :( The only problem is that there are too many invisible walls in the level so if I'm falling a little then I end up falling the whole way :( but completeing Stomp on the Thowmp is so rewarding. (That's the mission where you have to climb the whole clock.)

But Hazy Maze and Shifting Sand Land were definitely lame

Wow, Mario 64 was such a great game. So great that we are still talking about it when we have had so many good games come out recently for current gen systems. I'd have to go with Level 5- Big Boo's Haunt or Fortress or whatever it's called. I totally found that level by accident the first time I played by randomly dive punching ghosts and I thought it was definitely the most fun especially when I first got the game many years ago. There are so many good levels to choose from though- Whomps Fortress, Cool Cool Mountain, and Small Huge Island were also really good levels I thought. I'd definitely say that Tick Tock clock was my least favorite though, followed closely by Rainbow Ride. I really hated those levels. Hazy Maze was a pain too. All this talk of Mario 64 is going to make me want to fire up my N64 emulator when I get home from work...

I see what you're saying about the 50-star door, but for me, I can't even get the jump started. I've seen it done a million times - but doing the first jump where you go forward a bit, then go back, before going realllly back I can't pull off. Even on the endless stairs. I sort of wish I could do it for the bragging rights, but I can get 70 stars in a couple hours so I don't really care.

Yea that's the transport - I can't believ I never knew about it. It makes getting the star on the lonely shroom muuuuuuuuuuch easier. And I actually knew about jumping on the shy guy - but I wouldn't have the patience to keep spinning in the air for awhile
And yea, to get the Mysterious Mountainside star you just go to the ledge with the shy guy and purple guy (whatever it's called) and just jump down. I always prefer going down the slide though :)

And yea - it only took two tries but you were totally right - the distance is perfect and I sort of forgot how wide the cage was so it isn't that agonizing accuracy-wise.

Here's one - do you know about the pools inside Whomp's Fortress and Tall Tall Mountain?

The rabbit trick is cool. I've only did it once and will never do it again...it took me at least 20 minutes to grab the rabbit on the other side of the door. The backwards long jump thing is easy to do up the endless staircase, but its a bitch to get thru the 50 star door since there isn't many steps.

Your tall tall mountain thing...do you mean the warp on the shroom with the red coin shrooms? If not, the only thing I know of is the shy guy by the monkey. You can jump on him and twirl down to the lonely shroom.

Counter tall tall question...do you know how to get the slide star without beating the slide?

PS-did you long jump into the cage yet?

Yea, that's what I meant - sorry if I confused you. But getting to the top top? Wow - I actually just found a video on youtube of a guy doing it - that seems like a tough move.

And yea,  I know the backwards long jump trick. I actually have never been able to do it - I have put hours into it, and can't pull it off. But I have done the thing where you get 15 stars, then go downstairs and get the rabbit, and use him to get into the star door so you an fight the second bowser. But it doesn't serve me any good since I can't climb the stairs :( If I try again I bet I could pull it off.

Here's something that may be totally obvoius to you - but I actually just learned it recently. You know how in Tall Tall Mountain there is the cannon on the small ledge below the mountain? I nornally just jumped from the mushroom which is home to the 8 red coins star, and jumped down to the ledge that leads to the cannon. Did you know there is a transport to get there?

I know the trick you speak of. I personally can only get to the Yoshi area of the roof without the cannon. I've seen the video on how to get to the very top using a tricky triple jump and then running up the side of the tower. Its HARD...I remember trying to do it for like 45 minutes. Getting on the roof is tough enough, so I didn't think it'd be worth the bragging rights to get on top of the castle.

Here's another: Do you know how to ascend the endless staircase with less than 70 stars?
